Introduction @RotTTheGame:
• Joseph is a lifelong gamer who’s been in the video game industry for 13 years.
• He also worked on free-to-play modes alongside companies like ten cent and perfect world.
• He’s been in crypto since 2017 but got involved with NFTs and DeFi in early 2021. He explored a lot of different chains but decided on Solana for his project because he preferred the accessibility of that ecosystem.
• Initially, he minted lots of crypto-punk derivatives.
• Formed his project with people and the network he knew from the traditional gaming industry.
• He noticed lots of the p2e games were incentivizing players financially instead of having great fun, and this is what he wanted to base his game off.
• He’s developing a game called Reign of Terror, an Asian-themed cyberpunk world in the form of SRPG.
• The game has a persistent online world to it instead of a single player while also having lots of features such as rarity to the game and different NFT inclusions.
• He mentions how one of his priorities is for his game to fit with blockchain naturally.
• He notes that selling products in-game before was complex and had to be done through a third party, and that with the blockchain, it can be an easy way for players to utilize something clear-cut and quick to improve the overall gaming experience.
What are the issues with traditional gaming and crypto gaming?
• Joseph mentions that the main issue is that it's very extractive, meaning users are charged for things based on the gaming model.
• He talks about how users don’t own any in-game assets per se and have no way of controlling anything in the game.
• You’re simply paying to enjoy the game and get some form of escapism.
• In regard to crypto gaming, some of the games only appeal to specific audiences.
• To get more people to indulge in blockchain, the current lineup of p2e games aims at you FOMO into the game with less focus on if the game is good.
• He states that people should come into the game for entertainment and be incentivized to earn.
• His aim is for the NFT gaming industry to have a level ground between being incentivized through p2E and wanting to play and experience the game because of graphics, good stories, etc.

What do you think a good game will look like in the future?
• He acknowledges its entirely subjective and that all games are different with aims and goals.
• He thinks developers need to appeal to the audience better where they optimize user experience more.
• He also believes devs should incentivize the game, not explicitly basing it around ‘blockchain focus’.
• Focusing on the game graphics will encourage people to play; if they wish to explore how it incorporates the blockchain or NFT, this would be an excellent way to onboard users.
• He says they don’t need users to be early tech enthusiasts to play the game essentially but instead be interested through game trailers as you would with web2.
For owning assets within a game, how will that change the way people look at games in the future?
• Joseph says that it comes down to that instead of the gaming studios just generating off the players, the business model now changes to acknowledging the people who spend lots of time in the game, giving some of the revenue back to users.
• He also mentions the possibility of trading NFTs which could open up another market for users and game developers. (Similar to web2 games like CSGO)
A little about the Reign of Terror?
• For Reign of Terror, they have different core gameplay. The tokens used are all the same as the ones used for the ROT NFTs.
• Joseph mentions that the game has different categories of NFTs representing the world of Reign of Terror.
• The core asset to obtain is the ‘agent’ NFTs in the game. These are 3D models with stats and skills.
• The user can level up and fuse their ‘agent.’
• The game also includes crafting, where you consume certain materials to create items that users will eventually equip on the agents.
• He says for land NFTs, these would be something they generate in the future where users may be able to have private land they can build on.
• For the ROT token, you need this to level up the fusion for your agents.
• The type of game they’re creating is very niche. It’s not a typical battle Royale game like many other web3 games.

What is the hardest part of building a game?
• Joseph says that adding web3 is a substantial economic aspect you must endure as a game dev.
• You also have to assume what a player will do and enjoy because they are incentivized financially.
• He says that creating 3D models is challenging, and a lot of game design can be tasking, but strong engineering, art, and design need to be very specific.
• He also suggests that the game needs to attract the right demographic and audience.
Path for 2023 with Reign of Terror?
• One of the main goals for ROT is to get more people in with the NFTs.
• Also, to get TGE in mid-March, where Reign of Terror part 2 will be released.
• They also want to bring in users unfamiliar with blockchain.
• And his final point is on releasing the full game eventually, too.

Where do you see crypto going in 2023?
• Joseph wants to see more prominent players playing around with digital assets.
• He notes how the crypto market correlates a lot with macro, but if you’re able to make a good game, it can detach itself from macro overall, lacing its path based on user growth.
• He also says he expects a better narrative over NFTs and that NFTs must be taken more seriously.
• He notes that the Web 2.5 game can be constricting depending on how these companies design it. I.e., if they develop a game and just throw a token on it, it’ll be pretty weak in terms of market impact.
• However, if the game is more web3 centric, it can have a positive buzz.
• He also notes how many more game companies are looking at NFTs and how to incorporate them into their upcoming games.
